Shiner Toasts Our Troops with Boot Campaign

/

Shiner has brewed more than $1M in support of military veterans with Boot Campaign. We talked with Shiner Brewmaster Jimmy Mauric to learn why Texas’ oldest craft brewery laces up.

1) How did you and Shiner first hear about Boot Campaign?

Shiner has a long-standing tradition of supporting America’s military. We were inspired to partner with Boot Campaign after reading Marcus Luttrell’s book “Lone Survivor”. Much like how it inspired the creation of the charity, it was also our motivation to get involved.

2) What does it mean to give back to the military community to you?

It is very important for Shiner to give back to the men and women who have served our country. Since 2011, Shiner has donated more than $1 million to the Boot Campaign. We are proud to stand with the Boot Campaign and show our support for the brave veterans.

3) Do you have military in your family?

Several of my friends and family members have served in the military, as well as many of our own Shiner family. I salute each and every one of them and am proud to give back to those who have served our country.

4) Shiner and Boot Campaign are both home grown in Texas. What do you think it is about Texas that makes our two organizations thrive?

I am born, raised and currently reside in Shiner, Texas so I know first-hand that there is a lot of pride in the state of Texas – we have big hearts and take care of our community. Both Shiner and the Boot Campaign recognize that Texans want to show their pride and support organizations that share the same values.

5) What does the Boot Campaign partnership mean to Shiner?

As the oldest brewery in Texas, Shiner has welcomed generations of families to visit, work and play a part in our brewery family. Shiner is proud to support our local community in Texas and with Boot Campaign, our largest partnership, we can contribute to such a great cause and support an organization that is doing so much for veterans both in Texas and nationwide.

6) Anything else to add?

Shiner first laced up our boots in support of the Boot Campaign in 2011. Every year since, Shiner holds two major Texas events—the Shiner GASP and the Shiner Beer Run—along with a nationwide effort called “Toast Our Troops”, in which Shiner donates a portion of the sales from Shiner Bock and Shiner Light Blonde. Merchandise with the Toast Our Troops message benefiting the Boot Campaign is also sold on the Shiner website. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Boot Campaign and supporting America’s veterans.
