STATEN STRONG GALA ENSURES RELIEF FUNDING FOR BATTERED STATEN ISLAND
Gala Raises $75,000 to Fund Hurricane Sandy Recovery Efforts of Non-Profit, Staten Strong
Staten Island, NY (January 8, 2013) – There is hardly a more profound vision of instantaneous, life-altering destruction than snapshots of Staten Island, NY in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The Super Storm slammed the eastern United States on October 29, 2012, and since then communities have banded together to lend a helping hand. One such group is Staten Strong– a mix of natives, residents, friends and strangers– who has come together to rebuild their community. The mission of Staten Strong is to offer financial assistance to families in the tri-state area, and to form an even stronger sense of community in Staten Island.
Hosted by Staten Strong Co-Founder, Theo Rossi, and his cast mates, Ron Perlman and Kim Coates, of FX’s Sons of Anarchy, Staten Strong held the inaugural Staten Strong Gala on December 27, 2012 at the Excelsior Grand in Staten Island, NY. 900 people attended the gala. Through ticket sales, donations and auction, attendees raised $75,000 for Staten Strong. These monies will go back into the community by offering immediate assistance to families affected by Hurricane Sandy.
The evening featured cocktails, buffet dinner, a professional tattoo station from Under my Skin artists Tattoo Tony, Syxx and Seven Inklusionist, and a variety of auctions. The silent auction featured autographed memorabilia from FX’s Sons of Anarchy, as well as, as a variety of sports professionals. Live auction featured a stunning Harley Davidson Street Bob Dyna FDXB by Lombardi & Sons, a Los Angeles set visit of FX’s Sons of Anarchy, and a speed painting from local artist Scott LoBaido which auctioned for $4,500. Live performances by Deaf, Dumb & Blind, and Joyous Noise kept the crowd rocking late into the night.
Staten Strong Gala special guests included: Theo Rossi, Ron Perlman and Kim Coates of FX’s Sons of Anarchy, Twisted Sister, The Impractical Jokers, Chris Franjola, Jacquline and Chris Laurita, Albie and Chris Manzo, Clemenza Caserta Jr., Barbie Marshall, Justin Antiorio, DJ Skane, DJ Sally Boy Curto, KTU’s Matt Bosso, Rob Burmeister, Kevin Chapman, Scott, Labaido, Mikey D, Tommie and Mario of Carfellas, Comic Book Guys Brian Johnson and Michael Zapeick, Z100’s Gregg T., and local children’s band Giffords Lane.
Staten Strong is administered by the Boot Campaign and was founded by Farrell Alumni’s – Theo Rossi, Michael Burke, Nicholas Camona, Ed Cordiano, Craig Callow, Philp Pucciarelli and Gerard Graci, as well as two women befriended during clean up efforts, Jennifer Siracusa and Teresa Valerio.
