In honor of Veteran’s Day, the Boot Campaign is saluting our military Veterans by kicking off a week of Honoring our Heroes.

A US Naval Officer, ironman triathlete, humanitarian, and physician, this Veteran’s Day we welcome Lieutenant Commander Dr. Andrew James “Andy” Baldwin to the Boot Campaign’s growing Hall of Fame of Heroes, Musicians, Actors, Athletes and other newsmakers lacing up combat boots to express patriotism and gratitude for all who serve, and have served in the US Armed Forces.  Now featured on http://BootCampaign.com and social media pages, is Andy Baldwin’s official Boot Campaign Hero “Boot Shoot”.

Baldwin is board-certified in family medicine, is a U.S. Navy physician, humanitarian, media-personality, 8-time Ironman finisher, marathoner, and triathlete currently serving as the Senior Medical Officer on the USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD8) Amphibious Assault Ship home based in San Diego, CA.

Baldwin is committed to charitable and humanitarian efforts, and is especially focused on supporting fellow Veterans and their families. He is founder of the Got Your Back Network, a 501(c)(3) foundation that provides an avenue for the children of fallen soldiers to learn and be inspired by the most successful leaders of our generation.  The Boot Campaign will soon be partnering with “Got Your Back Network” to assist the organization in its efforts of supporting children of the fallen.

As a medical doctor, Baldwin is a firm believer in educating Americans about the warning signs of diabetes and the importance of healthy weight maintenance in the battle against diabetes. To help those suffering from or at risk of diabetes, Dr. Baldwin is working with Nutrisystem, a leading provider of weight management products and services, to raise awareness about the need for healthier family lifestyles focusing on everything from food choices, like Nutrisystem D, to exercise routines. To combat childhood obesity, Dr. Baldwin assisted the U.S. Surgeon General with a program called Healthy Youth for a Healthy Future and currently serves as an advocate for the Let’s Move Campaign, headed by First Lady Michelle Obama.

Baldwin has also been named to the All-Navy Triathlon Team five times and was a three time U.S.A. Triathlon All-American. As an endurance athlete and national health & fitness specialist, he has competed in numerous triathlons and racing events internationally.
