Boot Campaign and Hart Energy Provide Grant to Combat Wounded Navy SEAL towards his forever home at DUG Eagle Ford Conference and Exhibition

Severely Wounded Hero and Family Will Build new home in Montana; Grant provided as Part of Boot Campaign’s Heroes Into Homeowners Program

San Antonio, TX (October 3, 2013) – The Boot Campaign continues its commitment to turning Heroes into Homeowners with the charity’s most recent housing presentation with its longtime corporate partner, Hart Energy. Thanks to the generosity of DUG Eagle Ford Golf Tournament players and luncheon sponsors, Bo Reichenbach and his family were presented a grant to be used towards the building of their forever home on September 18, 2013 at Hart Energy’s DUG Eagle Ford Conference and Exhibition in San Antonio, TX.

“Being able to use proceeds from the DUG Eagle Ford golf tournament to fund a portion of a home to a worthy veteran was, once again, the high point of this event,” said Rich Eichler, CEO Hart Energy. “Our industry colleagues tell us how moved they are by these presentations at DUG Eagle Ford, and that emotional connection helps fulfill the Boot Campaign’s core goal of raising patriotism.  We’re happy to help oil and gas professionals ‘get their boots on’ and recognize the sacrifices our veterans make for all of us.”

Bo was raised in Billings, Montana. In 2008, he joined the Navy and two years later graduated from the prestigious Navy SEAL program in BUDs Class 277. Bo deployed to Afghanistan for his first combat tour in January 2012. Just a few months later, on July 17, 2012, he stepped on an IED resulting in catastrophic injuries.  Bo lost both of his legs above the knee.  He was awarded the Purple Heart just two days after arriving on American soil.  Since then, Bo, his wife Lacy, and their son Landon, have remained at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, MD as he undergoes intensive recovery and physical therapy.

“Bo is one of only two Navy SEALs that is a double above the knee amputee. He and his family are on a long journey of recovery, and embody the warrior spirit in every way,” said Gwen Lammers Boot Campaign Operations Director. “When we learned that Bo and Lacy wanted to build their dream home, with full ADA Accessibility, back in their hometown of Billings, we sprung to action to make this contribution possible.  We are grateful to have partners such as Hart Energy who ensure that funding can be raised for our Heroes into Homeowners program.”

Following the key presentation, Tetra Technologies, Newpark Drilling Fluids, and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management surprised the family with a total of $15,000 to put toward furniture and groceries for the new home, plus the start of a college fund for the couple’s five-year-old son.

This presentation marks a four-year relationship between Boot Campaign and Hart Energy.  To date, this partnership has resulted in nearly a quarter-of-a-million dollars in donations to the Boot Campaign and its charity partners, thousands of boots sold, and awareness through an annual advertising program with Hart Energy’s flagship publication, Oil and Gas Investor Magazine
